The Water Horse

So, I looked up times for this Thursday, since that would be our normal Book Group meeting:

United Artists: 6:35pm or 9:30pm
AMC: 8:30pm
Muvico: 7:35pm

I'm thinking the AMC at 8:30pm. Do we want to meet someplace and carpool? (we are still doing this, right?) Also, if I have a rough idea of how many people are coming, I can pick up discount tickets at my work for slightly cheaper (it's either $7.00 or $7.50, I'll have to check). Let me know if you want me to do this.

Baen Free Library

For those who are interested, you can download and read many books from The Baen Free Library Many of the books are first or second of a long series, so you can judge whether or not it's something you want to invest in. It was started by a group of authors who thought the publishers were being unreasonable about online books. So they started a virtual library. A chance to let people read their stuff and decide if they like it or not.

Enjoy!

The Bronze Bow, revisited

Just a note on books by Elizabeth George Speare: for those interested in reading more of her stuff, she wrote these four books:

Calico Captive, 1957
The Witch of Blackbird Pond, 1958
The Bronze Bow, 1961
The Sign of the Beaver, 1984

The middle two were Newbery winners, the last was a Newbery Honor book. Awards for 3 out of 4, not bad. Makes you wish she had been more prolific, but she didn't start writing books until her kids were in jr. high, which also gives me hope that there's time yet for me. :)
